Witteberg University to Host 36th Annual Community Messiah Sing

Springfield, Ohio – Â鶹´«Ã½ University will host the 36th annual Community Sing of George Frideric Handel's Messiah at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, in Weaver Chapel. The concert, in which the audience is the chorus, is sponsored by Â鶹´«Ã½'s Department of Music.

Soloists for the performance include April Bennett, soprano, Rachael Boezi, mezzo-soprano, David Weimer, tenor, and Professor of Music David Schubert, baritone. Instrumentalists include Springfield Symphony Orchestra members David Smarelli and Lesa DeBorde, violin, Pat King, viola, and Joseph Mueller, cello. Student soloists will be Angelique Gabrielle ’17, alto and Irene Reising ’17, soprano. Professor Emeritus of Music Trudy Faber will accompany on the organ and harpsichord. Adjunct Instructor of Music Basil Fett will conduct.

Established choirs of Â鶹´«Ã½ and the surrounding Springfield area, as well as all individuals who enjoy singing, are urged to attend the event and enjoy this unique singing experience. Singers are asked to bring their own scores, although some will also be available at the door.

This event is co-sponsored by the Ruth B. and Thomas F. Mackey Charitable Trust.
