Springfield, Ohio – The 2012-13 Â鶹´«Ã½ Series continues on Wednesday, Feb. 6, with a performance by Doug Varone and Dancers. The award-winning dance company will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. in Kuss Auditorium at the Clark State Performing Arts Center, 300 S. Fountain Avenue.
All Â鶹´«Ã½ Series events are presented free of charge, although tickets are required for the performance by Doug Varone and Dancers. Tickets may be obtained at Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s Benham-Pence Student Center service desk or at the box office at Clark State Performing Arts Center. Doug Varone and Dancers was founded in 1986 and has built a reputation for expansive vision, versatility and technical prowess. The resident company at the 92nd Street Y Harkness Dance Center in New York City, Doug Varone and Dancers has performed throughout the United States, in addition to performances in Europe, Asia, Canada and South America.
Varone, his dancers and designers have been honored with 11 New York Dance and Performance Awards (Bessies). In celebration of the company’s 25th anniversary, this year’s tour will reconstruct major dances from past repertory, as well as recent new works and premieres.
In addition to the Â鶹´«Ã½ Series performance, Doug Varone and Dancers will teach a masterclass to Â鶹´«Ã½ students at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, in Chakeres Memorial Theatre.
The performance by Doug Varone and Dancers was made possible by the New England Foundation for the Arts’ National Dance Project, with lead funding from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and additional funding from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
