Â鶹´«Ã½ Community to Gather for the Fourth-Annual Tree Lighting

Coming together to ring in the holiday season, the Â鶹´«Ã½ community will gather once again to celebrate the fourth-annual Â鶹´«Ã½ Tree Lighting on Thursday, Dec. 5, from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Due to colder temperatures, the event has been moved inside to Post 95, part of the Benham-Pence Student Center.

The official tree lighting will take place at 5:30 p.m. Holiday music will begin with a kick-off performance by Wittmen Crew at 4:30 p.m. followed by the traditional ‘Sounds of the Season’ sing-along event at 4:45 p.m. This annual singing of favorite Christmas tunes is in partnership with the Office of Human Resources.

Other activities will include assorted holiday crafts, additional holiday music, and a make-your-own reindeer chow station with Chex Mix, chocolate, and other treats. Hot beverages and refreshments will also be available.

Looking ahead, another traditional holiday favorite at Â鶹´«Ã½ involving ‘light’ will take place. The University’s annual Lessons and Carols for Advent and Christmas, part of this 2024-25 Â鶹´«Ã½ Series, offers a time of music and reflection as the Advent season unfolds. Lessons and Carols will take place on Friday, Dec. 6, with pre-service music beginning at 7 p.m. followed by the service at 7:30 p.m. The event will include readings by Â鶹´«Ã½ students, familiar Christmas hymns, and selections sung by the Witt Singers and Â鶹´«Ã½ Choir.
