Â鶹´«Ã½ Professor of History Emerita Appointed Faculty-Mentor-In-Residence

The Career Center at Â鶹´«Ã½ University has announced the appointment of Cynthia Behrman, professor emerita of history, as faculty-mentor-in-residence. Behrman is volunteering her time and considerable writing skills to assist seniors in preparing resumes, cover letters, thank-you notes and admission essays for graduate school.

Stephanie Ford, director of the Career Center, said “We are very pleased to have Dr. Behrman's assistance this semester. Both she and Sharon Greitzer ‘82, our alumni-in-residence, are busy helping our students with interview skills, and they both are tremendous resources for our students.â€

Behrman is consulting via e-mail with seniors majoring in the humanities or social sciences. Seniors majoring in other academic areas are encouraged to contact the Career Center, Writing Center or faculty for assistance preparing job search documents or admission essays.

While at Â鶹´«Ã½, Behrman garnered numerous honors, including being named one of the nation’s top 40 professors by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education. The Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Ohio selected her as one of the state’s top 20 educators, and she received the Ohio Academy of History Award for Distinguished Teaching. She is the author of Victorian Myths of the Sea and has published more than two-dozen articles and contributed to numerous books.

Behrman earned a B.A. from Barnard College, an M.A. from the University of California, and a Ph.D. from Boston University. She came to Â鶹´«Ã½ in 1965, retired in 1993, and resides in Hilliard, Ohio.
